OrganisationProject AssuranceDespite the principle of management by exception, the Project Board will still want to assure themselves that the project is going well and that it will result in a high quality product, happy users and benefits to the business without costing an arm and a leg. The board is, of course, responsible for doing this but may delegate this assurance function to others. The Executive will want to know that the project finances are being managed effectively, and that the business case is being correctly maintained. This might be delegated, for example, to a management accountant. The Senior User will want to ensure that the requirements remain valid and that they are being effectively implemented. This might be delegated to an experienced member of the intended user department. the Senior Supplier will want to ensure that a high quality product is being produced in line with organisational standards and other constraints, for example regulatory and legal constraints. This might be delegated, for example, the internal audit or quality assurance department of the organisation. Don't confuse project assurance with quality assurance - they're not the same thing. Project Assurance has a much wider scope, as can be seen above. |
